Can you join our Association?

Yes, if you are in business along West Broadway, you can apply for membership in the association.

• We can be your connection when meeting with Translink.
• We are your link to what’s happening in the neighborhood.
• We can offer our assistance when you have concerns in the community.

Our accomplishments to date include: street improvements with reburbished sidewalks, decorative medallions, and painted street lamp posts; establishing a new Community Policing Centre and addressing graffiti concerns; and, we are actively involved in the promotion of festivals like Greek Days. We continue to work towards: establishing a stand regarding potential transportation down West Broadway; and, promoting local events.

Professional members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership in the Association, including the right to vote or the right to be elected, understanding that they are members in good standing. Please fill out the application and share with us how you can help our organization to become involved with events, projects and the concerns along West Broadway. Membership Levels

A person may apply to the directors for membership in the Society, and, if the applicant meets the applicable eligibility criteria and pays the membership dues, may be accepted by the directors as a member in one of the categories of membership of the Society. The categories of membership and eligibility requirements for each category are as follows:

Professional Membership – $75

A person who meets the following criteria is eligible for membership in the Society as a Professional Member:

      a – is the owner of a business operating on West Broadway; or

      b – works as a paid staff member of a business on West Broadway;

Professional Members shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership in the Association, including the right to vote or the right to be elected, understanding that they are members in good standing.

Corporate Membership – $150

The Association also includes a Corporate Membership rate for large and public or private corporations/institutions (e.g.: universities, school districts, and/or banks with several branches) into the Membership rate schedule according to the following guidelines:

      • the rate to be the highest Membership rate category plus an additional amount per branch where applicable, as determined annually by the directors;

      • the rate to be an option for corporations/institutions who wish to consider a corporate rate.

Associate Membership – $25

An Associate Member is a member of the Society who is engaged in business, but who does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Professional Member as defined in this bylaw 2. A person who meets the following criteria is eligible for membership in the Society as an Associate Member:

      a – is the owner of a business operating in British Columbia; or

      b – works as a paid staff member of a business operating in British Columbia.

Associate Members shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of membership in the Association except the right to vote and the right to be elected.           

Honorary Membership – fees waived

The Board or Executive Directors may, by resolution, passed by seventy-five per cent (75%) of the Membership, name individuals to be Honorary Members of the Association in recognition of their contribution or outstanding service to the Association or to the West Broadway District.

Unless Honorary Members otherwise have voting privileges, they shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership in the Association but not the right to vote or the right to be elected. Except where an Honorary Member has the right to vote, he shall not be required to pay membership fees.
