Following a meeting at City Hall on February 15 when Council voted to approve the formation of the West Broadway BIA, a Special General Meeting was held March 8 to vote on the 2011-2012 budget. Members who attended at St-James Community Centre showed their interest and participated with questions, suggestions and support for the new BIA. The vote to approve the budget was unanimous, and one of the guest in attendance, Peter Vaisbord, the City's BIA Program Coordinator, Business District Initiatives officially notified Council of the successful outcome. The West Broadway BIA will officially commence on April 1, 2011.
The next steps to be undertaken by the Board of Directors of the WBBIA, will be to hire a part-time coordinator who will be involved in many facets of the business community. The WBBIA is also looking at options for office space directly in the community. If you can help or would like to speak with a Board member, please contact Kristen Reffle, WBBIA President, at 604-730-6831 (Manager, Ten Thousand Villages, 2909 West Broadway.)
